Can art heal social traumas?
Public evening lecture by Lukáš Houdek (documentary filmmaker, journalist and artist, Prague)
Lukáš Houdek has devoted himself to the subject of the post-war expulsion of Germans and the reconciliation process. Through his projects, he holds up a mirror to Czech society and seeks ways to achieve mutual reconciliation. In his lecture, he will present his individual projects alongside examples of public responses and the specific impact on individual families.
Lukáš Houdek is a Czech documentary filmmaker, journalist and artist. He studied Romani Studies at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University. He was the coordinator and one of the leading figures of the HateFree Culture campaign. In his work, he focuses on topics related to body image and intimacy, and has undertaken a number of artistic and journalistic projects on the subject of minorities, prejudices and historical or personal traumas. Today, he is a reporter for Heroine magazine, and he also assists several cities in communicating on issues relating to the coexistence of different population groups.
