Chamber concert Antonio Vivaldi
Charity concert in favour of the support association
We are collecting donations for a good cause with a charity concert in the castle chapel in Ludwigsburg (Kirchweg 6 a, 17509 Ludwigsburg) on Saturday, 18 July 2026. From 4.00 pm, Antara Menzel-Barbara and soloists from the Greifswald Chamber Orchestra will perform two masterpieces of baroque music by Antonio Vivaldi: the classic "The Four Seasons" (op. 8 no. 1-4) and "La tempesta di mare" (The Storm at Sea, op. 8 no. 5).
Admission is free. We ask for donations in favour of the Förderverein Schloss- und Gutshofanlage Ludwigsburg e. V. (suggested donation: 20 euros, concessions: 10 euros). The net proceeds from 18 July will be used to finance the Klinkowström Year 2027/2028.
Friedrich August von Klinkowström, the unjustly forgotten painter friend of Caspar David Friedrich and Philipp Otto Runge, was born in Ludwigsburg in 1778. Two of his paintings hang in the palace chapel. Klinkowström's life took him from Swedish Pomerania via Gdansk, Dresden, Hamburg, Paris and Rome to Vienna, where he died in 1835. To mark the 250th anniversary of his birth, the association is planning an anniversary programme with regional partners, which will be launched on Klinkowström's 249th birthday (31.08.2027).
Antonio Vivaldi was born 100 years before Klinkowström. Both died in Vienna, where a street is still named after them today.
Antara Menzel-Barbara, mechanical and aerospace engineer, conducts research at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics in Greifswald. He has played the violin since the age of 6, attended the music conservatory as a schoolboy and later studied music in Cork, Ireland.
By the way: Before we let ourselves be enchanted by the music on 18 July 2026, the Förderverein will be selling coffee and homemade cakes in the castle courtyard.
