Midsummer celebration at Ludwigsburg Palace - When the fire welcomes summer - Midsummer in Ludwigsburg
To mark the summer solstice, Ludwigsburg Palace invites you to an atmospheric midsummer celebration on 21 June 2026 with music from raven songs and a traditional bonfire in a historic setting.
When the sun slowly sets on the longest day of the year and the evening settles over the historic Ludwigsburg castle and estate grounds, the Ludwigsburg Solstice Celebration begins on Sunday, 21 June 2026. From 8.00 pm, the palace will become a meeting place for all those who want to experience music in a special atmosphere.
The event is organised by the Förderverein Schloss- und Gutshofanlage Ludwigsburg e.V. In recent years, the event has established itself as an integral part of the regional calendar of events and stands for the shared experience of music and tradition in a historical setting.
Midsummer marks the high point of the year: the longest day and the shortest night. It is precisely at this special time of transition that the Midsummer Festival invites you to celebrate the start of summer in a unique atmosphere.
The evening is accompanied musically by the group Rabengesang, who provide an atmospheric musical programme with a varied repertoire of traditional and modern songs - from past to present - and invite you to sing along.
The centrepiece of the evening is the lighting of the solstice bonfire at around 10.00 pm. The fire has symbolised light, warmth and joie de vivre for centuries and marks the transition to the shortest night of the year. In combination with music and the historic castle grounds, a special midsummer night atmosphere is created.
Catering is provided.
Admission is free; voluntary donations in favour of the musicians and the support association are requested.
The event will take place whatever the weather.
