Prone demo: Attention for ME/CFS
Demo on the deckchair with speeches, information stand, music and exhibition
From 9 to 12 May 2026, numerous campaigns will take place throughout Germany to mark ME/CFS Awareness Day on 12 May - including in Greifswald.
The aim of the #LiegendDemo Greifswald initiative is to raise public awareness of the disease and to call for binding, effective research and better care for those affected. ME/CFS is a serious chronic disease that is associated with considerable restrictions in everyday life.
Around a quarter of those affected are housebound, many are bedridden and dependent on care. According to the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians, over 620,000 cases of treatment with ME/CFS were documented nationwide in 2023 alone, including many children and adolescents. Nevertheless, there is still a lack of approved medication and nationwide specialised care structures.
The first Greifswald demo will take place on 10 May 2026 from 12 noon to 2 pm in Greifswald's Museum Harbour. Visitors can look forward to a demonstration while lying down with speeches, an information stand, music, an exhibition and much more. We kindly ask you to bring a surface (e.g. camping mat or camping bed) to lie on. The demonstration while lying down symbolises those who can no longer get out of bed.
