Leif Randt (Berlin) "Let’s talk about feelings"
Reading and discussion. Moderation: Eckhard Schumacher
An optimistic book about sad farewells: Leif Randt invents the coming-of-middle age. Marian Flanders, 41, sells perhaps the most beautiful clothes in the world in his West Berlin boutique, but the Kenting Beach store is rarely financially successful. When his mother Carolina - a once iconic model - passes away after a long illness, Marian organizes an alternative funeral service for selected guests. Marian believes that this event marks the beginning of the more joyless half of life. But what follows is a year of transformation. "Let's Talk About Feelings" celebrates fashion, desire and the dawn of middle age.
Leif Randt, born in Frankfurt am Main in 1983, is the author of five novels and a feature film. Previous publications include the utopias "Planet Magnon" (2015) and "Schimmernder Dunst über CobyCounty" (2011), the London novel "Leuchtspielhaus" (2009) and the love story "Allegro Pastell" (2020). His prose has received numerous awards, most recently the Hölderlin Prize of the City of Bad Homburg (2023). He has co-curated the online publishing label tegelmedia.net since 2017.
