Born in Greifswald in 1774, Caspar David Friedrich is today the most important painter of the 19th century and is the focus of our new permanent exhibition. A multimedia artwork puts you in the mood for Friedrich's poetic imagery. You can experience how his paintings took shape, immerse yourself in the originals and find out what kind of person the soap farmer's son from Swedish Pomerania was.
