How Nord Stream became a geopolitical tool - impulse & discussion about politics, economic dependencies and the war in Ukraine.

The Political Education Forum Mecklenburg-Vorpommern of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation invites you to a special event: The focus is on the investigative book "Nord Stream - How Germany is paying for Putin's war" by Steffen Dobbert and Ulrich Thiele. It shows how the pipeline project has shaped politics, the economy and society in Germany over the years and what a central role Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has played in this.
In vivid language, the authors describe how a political and economic network developed in Schwerin and on the Baltic coast that supported the construction and operation of Nord Stream and thus helped to strengthen Putin's regime. A look at the book makes it clear that the history of the pipeline is not an abstract energy policy, but is closely linked to regional players, decisions and institutions in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
On this evening, the author and journalist Ulrich Thiele will read selected passages from the book and then enter into a discussion with the audience. Join the discussion about political responsibility, economic interdependencies and the lessons that can be drawn from the history of Nord Stream for Germany and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
