"Gegen den Wind atmen" Ein Abend mit Autorin Manja Präkels (Berlin)
She is currently the "First Writer in the Gate" in Tribsees at the invitation of the AK ASYL of the Protestant parish.
"I stand on the bank of the frozen Oder. Breathe. In. In. In. I can't get the air out of my lungs again. Instead, a student's question continues to circle in my head: 'Frankfurt was in the GDR? With genuine astonishment in his eyes. My body remembers one of those winter flag-raising drills. Heads bowed. Afraid of a reprimand. Also of praise. The redemptive bell. Exhale. Out. Out. The Oder flows into the Baltic Sea. My thoughts follow the fish through space and time."
- Manja Präkels
For the second volume of the 'haima:tn series (published by Haus der Kulturen der Welt), Manja Präkels traveled to Frankfurt an der Oder and thus reached further stations in her life to date. She also presents texts from the hot-off-the-press reportage volume "Extremwetterlagen".
In our event, we will accompany the writer, journalist and musician Manja Präkels on a journey through her literary work. From the early, clear-sighted "Kaltland. Eine Sammlung" to her award-winning novel "Als ich mit Hitler Schnapskirschen aß", to the intense essay collection "Welt im Widerhall oder war das eine Plastiktüte" to her latest essays. We draw the red threads, look at right-wing superiority and resistant practices.
Reading, talk & singing with and by Manja Präkels
