Innenperspektiven und Selbstdarstellung in der Lyrik Hartmanns von Aue
Public evening lecture by Professor Dr. Ricarda Bauschke-Hartung (Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf)
Hartmann von Aue, one of the most important and versatile poets around 1200, plays with self-nominations and statements in the role of author in his works in order to promote the empathic involvement of his recipients. While this method is recognized as a medium of poetological self-reflection for the narrative texts, biographical interpretations often still dominate research on the poetry. The lecture will therefore take a new look at Hartmann's art of song. It will be shown how the poet uses pseudo-personal statements in his Minne- and Kreuzlieder in order to manipulate his audience by means of the perception of reality thus created.
Ricarda Bauschke-Hartung studied German and Romance studies with a focus on the Middle Ages at the Free University of Berlin, where she completed her doctorate on Walther von der Vogelweide and habilitated with a thesis on Herbort's Troy novel. A first professorship in Freiburg im Breisgau was followed by an appointment to the chair at the University of Düsseldorf, which she has held since 2008. She held the position of Vice-Rector for Academic Quality and Gender Equality there from 2012 to 2014 and has been a member of the University Council since 2017. She has served on the board of the Wolfram von Eschenbach Society since 2012 and as President since 2021.
