Tag der Biodiversität
What lives between the enclosures - three guided tours on the topic of biodiversity
This year, we are once again taking part in the joint campaign of the state zoo association "Biodiversity Day" on 22.05.25. The zoos in MV want to draw attention to their potential as a habitat for native animals and plants and thus to the biotope network in the zoological facilities. True to the motto: "What lives between the enclosures". With three guided tours on this day, we want to draw attention to various animal groups that find safe breeding opportunities and feeding areas in our park. Early in the morning at 7 a.m., head animal keeper Frank Tetzlaff will start a bird call tour and talk about the feathered friends in the park. At lunchtime at 12 noon, the focus will be on the large group of insects. In the first line, expert Christoph Kornmilch will capture bees and bumblebees with a net and then identify them with interested visitors. In the evening at 9 pm, bat lovers will get their money's worth. A team of experts led by Dr. Juliane Schatz will present the diversity of the nocturnal flying artists and, weather permitting, even show animals in the hand.
We look forward to your visit! All events are free of charge, but we would appreciate a small donation!
Please register at verwaltung@tierpark-greifswald.de. All guided tours are limited in number.
