Koeppentage 2025 - Vernissage "Wolfgang Koeppen und das Feuilleton"
An exhibition from the Wolfgang Koeppen Archive
Before his literary breakthrough in the 1950s with his "Trilogy of Failure", Wolfgang Koeppen was a busy feature writer. In the early 1930s, his "busy time", Koeppen was employed by the Berliner Börsen-Courier and lived and worked in Berlin.
With the growing influence of the National Socialists, the German newspaper industry came under pressure and was increasingly brought into line. Wolfgang Koeppen also published texts during this time that were politically aligned.
The exhibition examines Koeppen's feuilleton texts and also takes a critical look at those written in 1932/33. Both Koeppen's first articles for the Greifswalder Zeitung and his later articles for the country's major newspapers are on display. In addition, the exhibition offers insights into Koeppen's time at the Berliner Börsen-Courier and beyond with private photographs. A wide selection of the more than 500 texts published in newspapers and magazines will be on display and can be read.
