Geschlecht in der Medizin – Psychische Gesundheit im Fokus

From overcoming outdated concepts such as hysteria (from the Greek "womb") to current research on neuronal and molecular biological gender differences in mental illness - in the field of mental health, gender aspects play a significant role in treatment practice and theory development. In an exchange between science and practice, the status quo and future developments of a gender-sensitive approach to these phenomena will be critically discussed.
Marcella Fassio is a German literature scholar and currently a lecturer at the HU Berlin. She received her doctorate from the University of Oldenburg with a thesis on practices and poetics in literary weblogs and was a postdoctoral researcher at the FU Berlin until 2024, where she led the DFG project "Narratives of Female Exhaustion around 1900 and 2000".
Johanna Klinger-König studied psychology. During her Ph.D. she focused on the impact of childhood trauma on mental and physical health and the biological stress response in adulthood. In connection with biological stress reactions, she also investigated the influence of oral contraceptives.
Samuel Tomczyk has been Junior Professor of Digital Health and Prevention at the University of Greifswald since 2020 and has been working at the German Center for Child and Adolescent Health, Greifswald/Rostock site, since 2024. His focus is on prevention research related to digitalization and stigmatization.
