Greifswalder Literaturfrühling: Lesungen mit Juli Katz und Steffen Dürre
Both are winners of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Literature Prize 2024
Juli Katz "Annegret wants to go to Chicago"
A professional chicken farmer who is no longer a professional chicken farmer has to think about what to do with his life - this is the origin of the story by author and journalist Juli Katz, with which she won the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern 2024 Jury Prize for Literature and the Saal Audience Award. "To go or to stay? Juli Katz has given this old question a convincing literary answer for the year 2024 with her wonderfully light-footed story of Annegret," said the jury.
Steffen Dürre reads poems and other unpublished works.
He won the 2024 Audience Award in the livestream and is considered the most successful self-preventing author far beyond the federal state and is unjustly underestimated as such. Realizing this fact, he has decided to "[s]et this identity in a sustainable way through active authorial activity". Because, Dürre concludes: "Only by writing do I have the opportunity to continue to successfully prevent myself." He accepts the unacceptable misfortune of achieving an uncontrollably growing readership in this way. "I would slowly be ready to finally be discovered," says Dürre.
