Lecture series ‘Romanticism in Focus: Art around 1800 and its Reception’
The Caspar David Friedrich Society (e. V.) is delighted to invite you this autumn to its lecture series ‘Romanticism in Focus: Art around 1800 and its Reception’. The series aims to broaden participants’ understanding of fascinating topics relating to Romanticism and its influence on European art. The events will take place on the fourth Wednesday of every month and are designed to offer art enthusiasts the opportunity to engage in discussion with one another.
The series kicks off on 23 September 2026 at 5.30 pm with a lecture by Prof. Dr Christian Scholl, art historian at the University of Hildesheim, entitled “‘A noticeable refreshment and uplift’: The Düsseldorf School of Painting in Dresden”.
