EXHIBITION OPENING – Painting & Printmaking

The exhibition presents recent paintings as well as a cross-section of Uta Jeran’s graphic work. The Berlin-based artist transforms motifs drawn from cityscapes, landscapes, still lifes and figures into vibrantly coloured compositions, creating expressive images that bring movement and luminosity to life.
The painter Uta Jeran translates what she sees into the lightness of drawn movements and the intensity of applied layers of colour. Through the rhythm of loose lines and vibrant colour harmonies, her paintings invite the viewer to linger and open up pictorial spaces through which the eye can wander. Uta Jeran grew up very close to Greifswald and initially studied at the local Caspar David Friedrich Institute – which is why motifs of the town and the coast feature in her work.
