A moment of brilliance to mark German Unity Day at the imposing Peenemünde power station: Martin Fröst, one of the most prominent ambassadors of Swedish musical culture, is in demand worldwide today as a clarinettist, conductor and programmatic visionary. In Peenemünde, with Mozart’s radiant Clarinet Concerto, he demonstrates just how important the great classical tradition remains to him.
He is accompanied by the renowned NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, conducted by the Latvian conductor Andris Poga. On the programme: the joyful ‘Midsummer Night’ by the Swedish composer Hugo Alfvén and the monumental ‘Manfred Symphony’ by Pyotr Tchaikovsky.
