Summer in the Karrendorf meadows
The Michael Succow Foundation invites you to the Karrendorfer Wiesen.
Off we go to the Karrendorf meadows! Together we will explore the rare salt grassland of this unique coastal flooded moor in the National Natural Heritage near Greifswald. Between wind, water and wide-open skies, you will learn more about the dynamics of the coastal landscape and its special flora and fauna.
Numerous migratory birds from the north rest here in summer. Lesser sandpipers and marsh sandpipers forage in the shallow water areas, while terns hunt over the water surfaces. With a bit of luck, breeding birds such as oystercatchers, redshanks and lapwings can also be observed.
The excursion lasts around three hours and is accompanied by federal volunteers from the Michael Succow Foundation.
