Cabinet exhibition of the Wolfgang Koeppen Archive

The writer Wolfgang Koeppen (1906–1996), who was born in Greifswald and is best known for his post-war novels, also wrote a number of short stories.
It is not uncommon to find autobiographical references in Koeppen’s short stories – to his birthplace, Greifswald; to his childhood in Masuria; or to his sea voyages as a young adult. At the same time, his short stories are often political and take a firm stand against National Socialism, which Koeppen believed he could still recognise in society even after the Second World War.
The exhibition is dedicated to Wolfgang Koeppen’s short stories and presents fascinating background information, enriched with private photographs, manuscripts and other archive materials from the author’s estate.

Exhibition runs until mid-May 2027, open Tue–Fri 2 pm–6 pm; the Koeppenhaus Gallery will be closed whilst the exhibition is being rearranged.
