Exhibition opening: Tradition and the present - 110 years of the Pomeranian Artists' Association
Selected works by members of the Pomeranian Artists' Association
Founded in Szczecin in 1916, the Pomeranian Artists' Association experienced a chequered history with breaks and continuities. After reunification in 1990, the artists' association was able to regain a foothold in Western Pomerania and move its centre of gravity to Greifswald. Today, the association has 57 members who represent a wide variety of artistic genres - from painting, photography, graphic art and sculpture to objects - and styles. The spectrum of themes is also diverse: it ranges from landscapes, depictions of figures, portraits, urban scenes, myths and dream worlds to portraits. To mark the 110th anniversary, the members are showing a selection of photographic, pictorial and graphic works in the Rathausgalerie.
In addition, sculptural works and objects will be on display in the shop window in the town hall from 1 to 30 June.
At the same time, works by members of the artists' association and Polish artists from a joint workshop will also be on display at the Pomeranian State Museum.
