About the exhibition:
The exhibition entitled "Taumel" ("Staggering") refers to current social and political developments and illustrates these influences on the (self-)perception of people in the region in a fresco-like, expansive installation. The figure is the central motif. The artist uses waste paper, self-made charcoal, Rügen chalk and gouache for his work. Photographic fragments are carefully incorporated. Some thoughts that Bumke expresses on the subject of "Taumel":
Welcome to expendability.
In the laughed-at jungle of values of worn-out morality.
My soiled conscience.
Traffic jam of conditions.
Arbitrarily drifting,
through the various levels of human expression,
with the feigned freedoms.
Images of the disappearing individual,
in front of the same old, mendacious promises of dissocial prosperity.
