The Lüssower Senke in Stralsund - A land economy in the course of time
Guided tour with Sebastian Hahn | Meeting point: 18437 Stralsund, Kastanienweg 6 | Participation: 9 euros
The first archaeological evidence of settlement activity in the Lüssower Senke area dates back to the 13th century. It can be assumed that from this time until the last century there was continuous agricultural use of the valley basin as a classic grassland site.
Extensive transport infrastructure measures in the Stralsund urban area have profoundly changed the landscape, including that of the Lüssower Senke. The effects of such measures are still felt in many ways today and have a lasting impact on people's lives. The change from historical land use to today's ideas of nature conservation and landscape management repeatedly raises questions ranging from economic to social relevance. Insights into the changes of recent decades, the resulting problems and possible solutions will be presented and reflected upon.
