Frantz
Village cinema in Krebsow
Quedlinburg 1919, shortly after the First World War: Anna mourns the death of her fiancé, who has fallen on the French front. One day, she observes a stranger laying flowers at his grave. As it turns out, his name is Adrien, he is French and was apparently a close friend of Frantz, who studied in Paris before the war. Adrien's visit to Frantz's parents' house fails, as the father sees every Frenchman as a potential murderer of his son. Adrien is also openly hostile in the village. The shame of the military defeat against France and the pain of the many deaths are too deep-seated. But the desire to find out more about Frantz prevails and Anna and her mother-in-law invite Adrien to their home. By remembering together, the loved one comes alive and the loss is alleviated. A friendship develops between Anna and Adrien. But the young man carries a secret with him that increasingly burdens him.
Admission from 6 pm. Tickets cost €5 with free seating. Drinks and snacks can be purchased. There is always time for a chat with neighbours, friends and guests at the end.
