The simple things
Village cinema in Krebsow
Éric Besnard tells a heart-warming comedy in French style in "The Simple Things". Two dissimilar characters get to know each other and find a friendship that is as honest as it is surprising for both of them. While the auteur filmmaker gave his favourite actor Lambert Wilson the role of an over-excited jack-of-all-trades, he initially struggled with his counterpart. It wasn't until Grégory Gadebois was cast that Besnard developed the character of an introverted dropout who keeps his abilities under wraps. With magnificent landscape images - shot in the Vercors Nature Park in the French Alps - cinematographer Jean-Marie Dreujou creates a cinematic gem of deceleration.
