Forget-me-not planting campaign: inform - join in the planting - start a conversation
A sign for people with dementia and their relatives - forget-me-not planting campaign in Greifswald; 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. (during the weekly market)
From 24 to 26 April, the "Forget-me-not against forgetting" campaign will take place throughout Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The aim of the campaign is to send out a visible signal in favour of people with dementia and their relatives and at the same time to address people who have so far paid little attention to the topic of dementia, its challenges and opportunities.
Contrary to popular belief, many people with dementia can live independently for a long time after diagnosis - provided they receive support, reliable information and an environment that caters to their needs. This is precisely what the campaign is raising awareness of: people with dementia are part of our society.
The special thing about the campaign:
Anyone and everyone can take part. Cultural institutions, day-care centres, schools, care facilities, businesses, municipal institutions and private individuals are all invited to take part. Whether individual plants in the entrance area, on the windowsill or balcony, planted tubs or larger areas in the garden or public space - depending on the possibilities, a visible sign can be set. The plants in public spaces delight passers-by and invite them to find out more about dementia, regional contact points and the campaign via a small information board with text and a QR code.
The campaign is also explicitly aimed at people with dementia and their relatives. Planting together, experiencing nature and spring can awaken memories and create an invigorating moment in the often challenging day-to-day care routine.
All participants are asked to send up to two photos for a photo gallery to the network:
