JANE AUSTEN AND THE CHAOS IN MY LIFE, comedy by Laura Piani, FR 2024, 94 min.
With Camille Rutherford, Pablo Pauly, Charlie Anson, Liz Crowther, a.o., 94 min
The comedy revolves around Parisian bookseller Agathe, who dreams herself out of the world with the help of literature and thus escapes the impositions of everyday life. However, she is also an impeded novelist, and her boyfriend Felix submits the first chapters of her novel to a writing competition organised by a friendly couple who are, of all things, descendants of Jane Austen.
Everything could be perfect in the rural English manor house if it weren't for the snobbish son of the house, a prototypical Mr Darcy. As a result, Agathe is caught between male stress and writer's block.
"Between tenderness and burlesque and with a touch of mystery, Piani succeeds in visualising the precarious balance between body, mind and emotion, sense and sensuality." (epd Film)
