AMRUM, feature film by Fatih Akin, D 2025, 93 min.
With Jasper Billerbeck, Laura Tonke, Diane Krüger, Mathias Schweighöfer, and others.
Nanning has fled from Hamburg to Amrum with his mother and siblings to escape the chaos of war. The idyllic island seems unspoilt at first, but even here food is scarce and the Allied bombers flying over the island cannot be ignored.
Nanning wants to fulfil his mother's wish for a sandwich with honey, almost impossible in the days immediately after the capitulation, but he bites his way through the thicket of propaganda, silence, betrayal and lies, sometimes more, sometimes less successfully.
A "Hark Bohm film by Fatih Akin", the film is based on the childhood memories of the filmmaker and author Bohm and at the same time pays tribute to him, as Hark Bohm died shortly after the film premiere in November 2025. "The beauty of the island confronts the horror in people's minds." (SZ)
