Film screening as part of the film series on the occasion of International Women's Day.
Documentary / DE 2024 / Director: Torsten Körner / 104 min.
15 women from the former GDR have their say in this lively group portrait. They recall a country of state-imposed equality, in which patriarchal structures nevertheless prevailed in all the different areas of society from which they came. The former mayor of Potsdam Brunhilde Hanke, the farmer and "heroine of work" Solveig Leo, the DEFA assistant director Barbara Mädler, the historian and journalist Annette Leo, the painter Doris Ziegler, the behavioural biologist Marina Grasse and others talk about their fight for equal opportunities, the writer Katja Lange-Müller, the punk Gabriele Stötzer, the peace activist Ulrike Poppe, the actress Katrin Sass, the drummer Tina Powileit, the metallurgist Katrin Seyfarth, the comic artist Anke Feuchtenberger, the dental assistant Kerstin Bienert and the daughter of the painter Annemirl Bauer, Amrei Bauer. Accompanied by exclusive archive material, the women recall the double burden of their mothers and grandmothers and their own dreams and worries.
