Youth football coach Thomas "Eichi" Eichstätt trains FC Pio from Torgelow in the district of Vorpommern-Greifswald.
Many of the young players, like Thomas from Sierra Leone, have had traumatic experiences as refugees, while others, like 17-year-old Asad, are looking for a job without a school-leaving certificate. For all of them, "Eichi" with his tattoos, bald head and distinctive voice is a father figure who also supports the boys with their everyday problems. The award-winning documentary also takes a look back at Eichstätt's own past as a right-wing extremist and contrasts the contrasting lives of the coach and his youth team, sometimes humorous and light, sometimes profound and unembellished.
