In the land of stones - and - No man's land
The Land of Stones - The other image of the Friedländer Große Wiese / No Man's Land - A declaration of love to the beach meadows
The BUND Group Greifswald invites you to a film evening followed by a discussion. Two films will be shown in cooperation with the association Ostseelandschaft Vorpommern e.V. (OLVP), which realised both productions.
Film 1: In the land of stones - The other image of the Friedländer Große Wiese
The film shows the ecological and cultural-historical significance of the old, grazed grasslands of the Friedländer Große Wiese. The numerous erratic blocks and boulders are characteristic of the area. In recent years, species-rich grassland areas have declined sharply due to agricultural intensification and the expansion of large-scale photovoltaic systems. The film makes it clear what natural wealth we will lose if these landscapes are not protected.
Note: 2026 is the International Year of Grasslands.
Film 2: No man's land - A declaration of love to the beach meadows
The film portrays the coastal landscape of the Baltic Sea and Bodden coast in impressive images. It conveys knowledge about salt grassland, its biodiversity, the role of salt-tolerant vegetation, historical and future climate changes and the influence of extensive grazing on peat-forming soils - and thus on climate and coastal protection.
This will be followed by additional information on salt grassland and coastal protection.
