Scenic reading from the book by Annie Ernaux "I can't get out of the darkness" with Eva-Maria Blumentrath
6 pm Finissage of "Being alone. Living with dementia" and 7 pm reading from Annie Ernaux
Annie Ernaux tells of her mother and the hopeless battle against Alzheimer's disease, of a great love and the destructive power of forgetting.
These notes remain in a drawer for more than a decade. And yet Ernaux later decided to publish these pages. They can be read as a chronicle of a slow farewell and terrible destruction, with the search for a language for a disease that was barely described at the time.
With their exhibition project, the exhibition organisers Raymond Jarchow and Claudia Lohse-Jarchow want to contribute to drawing an understanding and multi-layered picture of dementia, because dementia has many faces.
