Universität im Rathaus: Propeller und verdrehte Fragezeichen – was uns Logos von Autos und Banken erzählen

Speaker: Prof. Dr. rer. pol. habil. Jan Körnert (Faculty of Law and Political Science)

Anyone who sees three stripes on a pair of sports trousers or recognizes a bitten apple often knows immediately whose product it is. At best, such graphic signs (logos) contain unique and recognizable features that can be used to identify entire companies. The lecture focuses on logos of cars and banks, which are presented in their historical development and their current meaning. Behind these logos are exciting stories, curious misunderstandings and clever designer tricks. They tell of identity, power and also of coincidences. In addition, we want to take the opportunity not only to look at the transportation problems involved in "easy" and "difficult" bank robberies, but also to discuss a widespread phenomenon in money multiplication.

Since 2004, scientists from the University of Greifswald have been presenting their research projects in the lecture series "University in the Town Hall" in the Bürgerschaftssaal of the Town Hall. The aim of the lecture series is to give the general public an insight into the diverse research carried out at the University's five faculties. Admission is free.
