Ronja Räubertochter (Spielfilm Norwegen, Schweden 1984)
Children's cinema in the city library
The film, based on the novel of the same name by Astrid Lindgren, depicts the friendship of Ronja and Birk, two children of leaders of rival robber gangs. They oppose their fathers and their desire to chase away the other band of robbers as quickly as possible. A wrestling match between Mattis and Borka, the two leaders, is to decide who will become the head of both gangs. Borka wins and a big joint celebration takes place. In wonderful shots, the film also tells of Ronja's experiences with creatures of the forest: the trolls, gnomes, Willtruden and other mythical creatures of the north.
