"Gute Ratschläge" - Ausstellung von Karen Kunkel
Painting, drawing and graphics in the Small Town Hall Gallery
Karen Kunkel's work is process-oriented, based on the desire to explore states, structures and processes. These can lie within and without, whereby the artist moves back and forth between the poles of the rational and purposeful conscious exploration on the one hand and the irrational, feeling, intuition and chance on the other. She uses a variety of artistic means, including her own body.
Both rational influences and logical decisions, as well as an emotional approach and surreal ideas, can lead to figurative or abstract works. In her prints, drawings and paintings, she often combines techniques and uses unusual painting surfaces such as washcloths or file covers.
