Faszination Segeln
Thomas Lange's exhibition shows pictures of a wide variety of sailing boats, from shark cutters to high-tech yachts, on the Baltic Sea.
Life on the coast. For some people, this is not just life by the sea, but also with and on the sea: sailing, for example. Once you've succumbed to the fascination of sailing, it's hard to get away from it. But sailing is not always just about sport, leisure or adventure. In the past, sailing often meant earning a hard living; fishing or transporting goods and merchandise across rivers, canals and seas. And in almost any weather...
It didn't have much to do with the romance of today's leisure sailing. This makes it all the more important and wonderful that there are people who remember these traditions and restore, cherish and maintain the relics from the old days. These include the Zeesen boats of the Saaler Bodden as well as the Danish shark cutters or the many other former working ships, many of which have now found a berth in museum harbors such as Greifswald. This photo exhibition aims to do justice to all these aspects of sailing - with fishing boats, on working ships and modern yachts. Most of the photos were taken here in the region over a period of around 15 years.
