Introductory lectures on nuclear fusion and Wendelstein 7-X
10:15 am,
"Fusion research in the focus of future energy production"
11:30 a.m,
"Wendelstein 7-X - experimenting with the world's most modern stellarator"
15:00 hrs,
"Wendelstein 7-X - central building block of current fusion research"
During the introductory lectures and tours, we will explain the results of the first operating campaigns at Wendelstein 7-X and provide an outlook on the upcoming experimental phases.
Discover and understand
There's hands-on science on the experimental trail: send laser beams through a labyrinth. See what happens to a chocolate marshmallow in a vacuum or in the microwave. Let a superconductor float. Try our Gelato di W7-X, which is made with liquid nitrogen. Learn how to measure the temperature or density of a plasma, ...
Children's program
There is a special hands-on program for young researchers. Everything revolves around the impressive world of magnetism: wind your own magnetic coils, make iron filings and liquid magnetic mass dance or fly a self-built magnetic airplane through the air as if by magic. Let yourself be enchanted by the numerous experiments with magnets and their mysterious powers. Age-appropriate guided tours of the Wendelstein 7-X are also available.
