"Wolfgang Koeppen and the feature pages"

Cabinet exhibition in the "Munich Room" in the Koeppenhaus by the Wolfgang Koeppen Archive

Before his literary breakthrough in the 1950s with his "Trilogy of Failure", Wolfgang Koeppen was a busy feature writer. In the early 1930s, his "busy time", Koeppen was employed by the Berliner Börsen-Courier and lived and worked in Berlin.
With the growing influence of the National Socialists, the German newspaper industry came under pressure and was increasingly brought into line. During this time, Wolfgang Koeppen also published texts that were politically aligned.

The exhibition examines Koeppen's feuilleton texts and also takes a critical look at those written in 1932/33. Both Koeppen's first articles for the Greifswalder Zeitung and his later ones for the country's major newspapers are on display. The exhibition also offers insights into Koeppen's time at the Berliner Börsen-Courier and beyond with private photographs. A wide selection of the more than 500 texts published in newspapers and magazines will be on display and available to read.

Opening hours: Tue-Fri 2-6pm, admission free
The exhibition and the "Munich Room" are located in the gallery rooms of the Literature Centre Vorpommern in the Koeppenhaus and are only accessible during current exhibitions there.
