Esthers Spuren - Lesung mit Benet Lehmann
As part of the series "Standing up to anti-Semitism", the Commissioner for Jewish Life and Against Anti-Semitism in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern invites you to the book presentation Benet Lehmann: Esther's Traces.
The story of the Shoah survivor. Esther Bejarano and the fight against right-wing extremism.
It is five past twelve. The last witnesses to National Socialism are dying. In Germany, the meaning of the Shoah is once again being debated. Right-wing extremists meet in Potsdam to plan the "remigration" of people. An anti-democratic party is the strongest force in Thuringia and achieved high election results in Saxony and Brandenburg. But what do the culture of remembrance and the fight against right-wing extremism actually have to do with each other?
In the non-fiction book "Esther's Traces", Benet Lehmann examines the story of Shoah survivor Esther Bejarano and her fight against right-wing extremism.
What role does the legacy of contemporary witnesses play?
Who remembers whom and why?
What happened in my own family and how can I research it?
And: Does a culture of remembrance help against rising anti-Semitism and racism?
