Vernissage: Der Hund mit dem Haarknoten
Punk illustrations to Greenlandic fairy tales by Martin Velíšek - as part of the Nordic Sound
The Greenlandic storytelling tradition goes back many centuries. The stories were passed down orally and were primarily entertaining in nature. At the same time, they were also instructive. At the beginning of the 20th century, the wealth of stories was written down. Since then, they have been interpreted and rewritten for different target groups. Gunvor Bjerre's retellings of selected children's stories form the basis of this exhibition, which provides an insight into the Greenlandic storytelling tradition. The illustrations were created by the Czech artist Martin Velíšek.
The vernissage will take place on May 4 at 6 pm: Zdenek Lyčka will open the exhibition with a lecture on the Greenlandic storytelling tradition. Afterwards, students from the Institute of Fennistics and Scandinavian Studies will read German translations of the stories.
Exhibition open: Mon-Fri 12- 5 pm, admission free
