Nordischer Klang 2025: Musiknachmittag
Double concert with Mats Edén & Guro Kvifte Nesheim and Marit & Thomaa Westling
This duo redefines Hardanger fiddle ensemble playing by combining the flexibility of the solo tradition with inspired accompaniment. The two musicians, Mats Edén from Greifswald's Swedish twin town Lund and Guro Kvifte Nesheim from Norway, represent two generations of Scandinavian folk musicians. They combine verve, fresh harmonic solutions and colorful intonation to create playful and spontaneous music. Mats has helped shape the Nordic music scene for decades, particularly through the group Groupa, while Guro became famous with her band GKN5.
Professional fiddler Marit from Greifswald's Norwegian twin town Hamar and "riksspelman" (master player of Swedish folk music) Thomas from Bollnäs have been known to folk music lovers since 1997. They met for the first time in San Francisco and Mendocino. Both felt a strong musical connection from the start, and they soon felt other good vibes. With Marit's distinctive melodies and Thomas' unusual ability to improvise, they complement each other wonderfully. Both have taken great pleasure in learning each other's musical traditions, which makes them all the more attractive to a dance audience.
