Nordischer Klang 2025: Reise ans Ende der Welt. Nansens Arktisfotos
Exhibition opening on 23.04. at 6 pm
The attempt to reach the northernmost point in the world - the North Pole. With his pioneering Arctic expedition at the end of the 19th century, the Norwegian polar explorer Fridtjof Nansen set off in the specially constructed ship Fram to explore previously unknown territory. He had his ship trapped in the ice north of Siberia in the hope of getting closer to his goal. Photographs taken by Nansen himself tell of everyday life surrounded by ice. A potentially deadly undertaking that ultimately came to a happy end.
There will be an introductory lecture by Hanna Rinderle (Humboldt University Berlin) at the exhibition opening on April 23.
