Debate Box on Tour: Engaging in conversation together
Four sessions, six researchers, 40 controversial questions and 60 seconds to reach a consensus:
With the ‘Debattenbox auf Tour’, the University of Greifswald, Stralsund University of Applied Sciences and Wismar University of Applied Sciences, in collaboration with the Halle-based association science2public, are inviting people in August to take part in a lively debate on the future of the federal state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
Do rural areas need better healthcare? How can the energy transition be successfully implemented at a local level? How much wind energy can the region cope with? With these and similar questions, the interactive ‘Debattenbox’ is travelling from Saxony-Anhalt to Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and will be touring the region from 22 to 27 August 2026, visiting four universities. It brings people with different perspectives together in conversation – directly, playfully and without any reservations.
The principle behind the Debate Box is simple: two people use buzzers to answer controversial yes-or-no questions. If they agree, the game continues. If they disagree, the 60-second debate mode begins. To move on to the next question, the two players must find common ground.
Do come along, press the buzzer and join in the discussion. After all, democracy thrives on people talking to one another – especially when they don’t see eye to eye.
