Despite everything!
Post-migrant youth moves the East
Despite being (un)consciously overlooked! Despite being ignored! Despite being forgotten! Many young migrants and BI_PoC from and in eastern Germany are making their voices heard! They are strong! They are making waves in the East!
The exhibition “Despite Everything! Post-Migrant Youth Are Shaking Up the East” showcases the activism of young, (post-)migrant and BI_PoC people in Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia. Young role models from different communities are independently creating spaces for collaboration, empowerment and social change. They are breaking with prejudices, old patterns and racist stereotypes. They speak candidly about the challenges they face in everyday life, on stage, in clubs and in local politics. Their stories inspire courage and hope. They demonstrate just how self-assured and resilient young migrants and BI_PoC in eastern Germany are.
The exhibition was created as part of the JUGENDSTIL* project in cooperation with DaMOst e.V.
The exhibition can be viewed from 3 July to 24 July 2026 and from 24 August to 30 October 2026, Sundays to Fridays from 2 pm to 6 pm (and by appointment) on the upper floor of the STRAZE (the exhibition is closed during the summer holidays). Admission is free.
The STRAZE is wheelchair accessible. There is a lift and a wheelchair-accessible toilet. All toilets are all-gender toilets. Beanbags are available as alternative seating.
