Merle Lembeck - "Held in softness"
Installation by the Osnabrück artist
The installation "Held in Softness" shows an organic form floating in space. The material used, nylon, is not only a form, but also a state: inside/outside, soft/solid, protected/open. The transparent fabric is both a surface and a shell - something that expands, yields and creates space.
Merle Lembeck is a freelance artist from Osnabrück whose artistic practice is located in the field of tension between painting, spatial composition and object. Her works move between surface and body, between two-dimensionality and spatial presence, investigating the interactions between material, space and perception.
At the centre of her work is an intensive examination of space and body - the space creates the body, the body expands within it. Her works invite us to experience space not only visually, but also atmospherically and physically.
The art association art-cube e.V. seeks an exchange with the twin city of Osnabrück and invites an artist to Greifswald once a year to present their artistic position.
Exhibition duration: 02 May - 21 June 2026
Organiser: Kunstverein art-cube e.V.
