1. Kammerkonzert

Violin sonatas by César Franck, Claude Debussy and others.

Two violin sonatas span the concert. Each opens a door to French worlds of sound in its own very specific way. Although César Franck was born in Belgium, his sonata, composed in 1886, breathes Parisian air and is today regarded as one of the most important French violin sonatas of the fin de siècle.

Claud Debussy's sonata, written in 1915, is one of his last compositions. He himself played the premiere of this mysterious late work in 1917.

Between these two musical monoliths, the concert is lively with short, mostly dance-like pieces with a high recognition value - from Gershwin to Prokofiev to Bartók - an evening full of surprises.
